Bali has been one of the world’s most beloved travel destinations. Millions of visitors set foot on the island each year to enjoy the endless sunshine, rich culture, world-class surf breaks, and natural beauty. If you’re planning a trip to this Indonesian paradise, make sure to stay updated with the latest Bali entry requirements to ensure a smooth arrival.
Here are some things you’ll need to prepare before your journey.
Visa requirements
If you’re coming from outside Indonesia, check if you need a visa to enter.
Passport holders from the following countries are visa exempt:
- Cambodia
- Malaysia
- Singapore
- Philippines
- Thailand
- Brunei Darussalam
- Lao PDR
- Vietnam
- Colombia
- Suriname
- Hong Kong
If you are not a passport holder of the above countries, you can either apply for a visa from your home country or obtain a Visa On Arrival (VOA) at the Bali airport.
A VOA will allow you to stay in the country for 30 days with the possibility of extending your stay once. Extensions can be applied for through Bali’s Immigration Office.
Indonesia offers VOA for passport holders from 97 countries, so do check if you’re eligible for one before flying.
Tourism levy
Another Bali entry requirement is the tourism levy. Introduced in February 2024, this tourist tax costs Rp.150,000, or the equivalent of around US$9.
This fee contributes to the preservation of the island’s natural environments and tourist spots. You can pay before you leave for your trip via the Love Bali website or app.
Complete the All Indonesia App (New)
Starting September 2025, Indonesia has introduced a unified digital entry system called the All Indonesia platform (accessible via the mobile app or website) that all international travelers must complete before arriving in Bali.
This new system replaces previously separate processes, including the Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) and the SATUSEHAT Health Pass (formerly e-HAC). Instead of filling out multiple forms across different websites, travelers now submit all required entry information in one digital form.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The All Indonesia form includes immigration, customs, and health information in one submission.
You can fill it out via the ‘All Indonesia’ app (iOS/Android) or through the official allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id website. - It must be completed within 3 days (72 hours) before your arrival in Bali to avoid delays.
- Once submitted, you’ll receive a QR code by email or in the app, which must be shown to customs and immigration officers when you land.
This integrated form is mandatory for entry into Bali (and other major Indonesian airports where the system is live), even for visa-exempt travelers and those with a valid visa.
Autogate entry
For a more seamless arrival experience, the Bali airport has installed automated gates in the international terminal.
To use these gates, Bali entry requirements state your passport must be an electronic passport, valid for at least 6 months, and carry an approved e-visa for Indonesia.
Once you’ve followed these requirements and made it through customs and immigration, you’re free to explore the island! Bali is teeming with nature spots and activities for every kind of traveler – from the thrill-seeker to those who seek to kick back and relax.
If you’re the kind of person who enjoys trying local cuisine on your travels, a visit to Merah Putih restaurant will take you on an adventure through some of Indonesia and Bali’s most beloved dishes. Make your way to Petitenget in Seminyak for a local food fine dining experience like no other.
